An exciting opportunity for a talented, experienced IT/Technical/Technology Manager/Director to take full ownership of all the technology systems across the business (including our new Westfield London showroom), a team of technology specialists and the connections through to our digital platform. 

Launching in 2021 Situ Live has ambitions to become a first-choice destination to discover and choose the latest and best innovation products designed to make life better.  

We will be showcasing the ultra-cool new brands shoppers don't know alongside the big brands they do. Our live experiential showroom in Westfield London brings some of the magic of theatre to how we shop for lifestyle technology products.  

Our presenters bring products to life with live storytelling and live streamed content whilst our knowledgeable advisors help shoppers understand the products better and guide them to the best places to buy online.  

Our digital platform manages and presents product information across our catalogue of entertainment, home, work, communications, wellness, sport, travel and more. Our easy-to-use digital shopping content and tools take the stress out of choosing what’s right for shoppers. We then connect shoppers to their favourite places they can buy the product.  

You will need to be the type of individual who’s heart skip a beat when a new software program or hardware hits VENUE shelves.   

You will be obsessed with pristine code and elegant UX/UI design and how this can impact retail. 

You will need to understand brand technology and the connectivity of lifestyle brands in today's competitive market. 

You will oversee the acquisition and implementation of useful technologies ensuring the venue is always live in its digital and physical format. 


As Technical Director you will take ownership for all the technology and technology operations in the business. 

  • Developing requirements, specifications, selecting and managing vendors 
  • Managing the installation, configuration, and maintenance of all in store IT infrastructure, connectivity, networking, Wi-Fi provision, tracking sensors and CCTV systems  
  • Line managing and developing a team of technology specialists to support store operations. 
  • Working with brand partners to ensure smooth onboarding of their products in our stores, to maintain the day-to-day operation of the products by store colleagues and shoppers and provide first line support for any problems with devices. 
  • Creating and managing product ecosystems that seamlessly integrate cross brand products into one consumer experience. 
  • Managing the IT needs of the business including provision of help desk support for laptops and mobile devices. 
  • Researching and evangelising innovative and emerging solutions to manage store operations, improve efficiencies and influence new service opportunities. 
  • Managing the in-store event’s including theatrical set ups relating to lighting and environment change. 
  • Managing all in store communication and digital display solutions including any related CMS

IT Infrastructure – This is the behind-the-scenes networking, cabling, data capture, camera tracking, content management systems, display screens etc.  Everything that enables the consumer experience.  The technical director will need to have full understanding of all systems that we are using, will need to own the primary relationship with these suppliers, design fail safes and security systems that will ensure the VENUE remains always on.  They will need to ensure that all systems are maintained and updated and be incredible at problem solving should situations arise where one or more system goes down.  This is a critical role. 

Product Ecosystems – Within each theatre there could be up to 30 connected products that we will be bringing the life.  The technical director will have responsibility to ensure all products are connected, charged, in demo mode, and fully functional to enable consumers and our staff to demonstrate and play with the products to provide the brands with the best possible opportunity of consumers falling in love with those products.  Ecosystems will need to be designed and maintained that enable the products to work seamlessly with each other.  And they will be responsible for any and all issues that arise from products not working as they are designed too. 

Messaging and Theatrics – Technical automation will be used to bring product stories to life, this will use not only the product ecosystems, but display screens, sound, and lighting to create immersive environments and create amazing environments.  The technical director will need to ensure that all systems work in tandem and are maintained and updated as required to enable the tech to work seamlessly. 

Skills and experience 

  • Proven experience of successfully managing an IT team and technology solutions 
  • Experience managing technology in a retail environment (or similar transferable role/environment) 
  • Ability to deliver in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. 
  • Good communicator, both written and verbal, at all levels within an organisation. 
  • A problem solver who gets excited by finding quick solutions to technical problems. 
  • Proactive, self-motivated, able to work alone as well as develop relationships working as an integral part of a team. 
  • Ability to engage, challenge and influence others to achieve productive solutions. 
  • Comfortable and proficient at remote working and working on the move. 
  • Have a passionate interest and be an advocate for consumer technology.
